UJOSS President Oyet Patrick attends a media training in Cairo, Egypt

The President of the Union of Journalists of South Sudan Oyet Patrick Charles joins the 56th media training organized by the Union of African Journalists (UAJ) in Cairo Egypt. Oyet left Juba for Cairo on Friday last week to witness the media workshop for young African Journalists and to grace the closing of the training on Thursday this week.

The workshop kicked off in Cairo, Egypt on Saturday May 6, 2023. Oyet joined the workshop in Cairo on May 19, 2023 in order to witness the training and to grace the closing of the workshop on May 25, 2023. One of the biggest areas discussed at the ongoing sessions are methods to enlighten journalists to report on corruption.

South is being represented in the seminar by journalist Hanoya Chol, a female journalist from South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC).

The Union of African Journalists in collaboration with Egyptian Supreme Council for Media Regulation is organizing the 56th training for young African journalists in Cairo, Egypt to enhance the capacity of African scribes on several areas of importance.

Egypt is currently hosting journalists from South Sudan, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Mali, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Chad, Senegal and Morocco.

Union of Journalists in South Sudan

The Union of Journalists of South Sudan, (UJOSS) is a registered non-profit legal entity in South Sudan. It was founded in 2004 with the aim of protecting journalists, media freedom and ethical standards, improving working conditions for journalists including welfare.
